About Juston

Juston Barnett was born on August 8th, 1986 on the Eastside of Houston, TX. Having being raised in a single parent household by his mother,  Juston was taught life and the value of responsibility during his adolescence stage. Despite the negative statistics that are associated about Black men who are raised out of single parent households headed by Black women; Juston Barnett defied the status quo.

 

Juston graduated from North Shore High School in 2004 and then enrolled at San Jacinto College where he obtained an Associate of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2006. Staying on focused and committed to his goals; Juston, in the fall of that same year in 2006 transferred to Sam Houston State University to pursue his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. In addition, in the spring of 2007, Juston was initiated in the Theta Rho Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc.,  and the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in 2009.

 

Since his commencement from Sam Houston State University in 2009, Juston has been stably employed in the Human/Social Services Industry, and has been dedicated and blessed to work with Individuals and military veterans with life barriers. Juston has served as a former Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a former Case Manager at U.S. Vets (Houston) working with homeless military veterans in Transitional Housing and assisting them with obtaining permanent housing. Presently, Juston serves as an Employment Specialist with Goodwill Industries of Houston for military veterans who have recently been released from Incarceration, and provides those veterans with Job-readiness training, life skills training and employment services.

 

Juston is also dedicated to exhibit a culture for service for humanity and is very active in community involvement. Juston was initiated as a Prince Hall Mason in 2011 under the dispensation of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Texas and currently serves as Senior Warden of Highland Heights Lodge #200. In addition, Juston is a member of the Eta Rho Sigma alumni chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., and currently serves as the chapter’s first historian. Additionally Juston is also a mentor and also has passions for education, and black history, along with research and preservation.

 

Moving forward, Juston plans to further his education to obtain a Master of Social Work Degree and a PH.D. in African-American Studies. Juston is also desirous of becoming a public speaker, a middle school history teacher, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a author, and a University Professor.
